Effects of Combination of Ganciclovir and Ginseng-butanol Fraction on Spleen and RBC of FVA-infected Mice

Abstract

|
In this study, the effect of combination of ganciclovir and ginseng-butanol fraction on spleen and RBC of FVA(anemia-inducing strain of Friend Virus)-infected mice has been tested. Ganciclovir(25, 50, 100mg/kg i.p.) reduced the murine spleen weights, dose-dependently. Ginseng-butanol fraction(100, 200mg/kg p.o) reduced the murine spleen weights only in the group in which the drug has been administered from 1 week before FVA injection. Concomitant administrastion of ganciclovir and ginseng-butanol fraction reduced the spleen weight more than respective ones. It is suggested that ganciclovir has significant effect on FVA, and has synergistic effect when used with ginseng-butanol fraction.
